When most people think of orthodontics, they think of traditional braces. And whilst braces remain one of the most straightforward methods to align your teeth, there are other options too - including the award-winning Invisalign, custom designed retainers, expansion plates, functional plates for growing kids etc.
We don’t expect you to know what’s best for you. That’s our job. Book in for a 15mins $0 consultation and we will run through options for you or your loved ones.
Straight teeth shouldn't break the bank either, and we're committed to offering the right solution at a reasonable price. We offer zero interest payment plans for all orthodontic/Invisalign treatments. For more information on our prices, see our fees page.

Ceramic (white) braces
Ceramic braces are popular for people seeking a more discreet appearance. Ceramic braces attract a higher price than traditional metal braces, and they generally perform the same way as traditional metal braces.
-
Metal braces
Metal braces are the most common type of braces, and the ones you're most likely to see on younger children. Designed to be kept on for an extended period of time, metal braces will gradually correct the shape of the bite.
-
Invisalign
Invisalign is the most popular orthodontic option amongst adults at our clinic. It’s light-weight, removable trays offering a discreet appearance that is easy for patients to manage. We are fitting Invisalign for patients almost every day at the clinic so please visit for a free consultation and we'll see if this is a suitable for you. For more information, visit our Invisalign page.
FAQs

There are constantly lower cost ‘alternatives’ popping up onto the market and these are regularly advertised on social media. Do they work just as well? Maybe, but we have had great success with Invisalign for over 15 years and the potential advertised saving is really not worth it. We exclusively offer Invisalign only for our patients.
We also don’t recommend any DIY orthodontic treatments available over the internet. If in doubt, speak to a qualified dental practitioner.

The good news is that you are not alone, the bad news is that teeth can move (or drift) slowly, regardless whether you’ve had braces or not. Teeth are not “glued” to your jaw bone and movement can occur over time.
A portion of our Invisalign patients have had braces many years ago and due to a number of reasons (i.e. not wearing their retainers), resulted in crowded teeth again. As a general rule, if retainers are not worn long term, movements may occur.
At Seddon Dental, we always recommend long term retainer wear and ‘glued-in’ retainer wire(s) to ensure you keep your teeth looking straight for as long as possible. All of our braces/Invisalign patient get a set of glued-in retainer and clear night-time retainers at no extra cost.

The good news is that generally, most patients experience little discomfort during orthodontic treatment.
Having said that, at first there may be some tightness or discomfort in the mouth, and some friction against the cheeks and lips. However, most patients get used to this feeling and after a while, it isn’t noticeable at all.
When first fitted for braces or Invisalign treatment, we recommend patients to eat soft foods that require little chewing, just to make things a little easier until they get used to it.

Absolutely! Provided you have healthy teeth, braces/Invisalign will work. And remember, most orthodontic treatment is less than 2 years, and that two-year commitment gives you a lifetime of confidence.
For older adults who are looking for something more discreet, we suggest discussing your options for Invisalign, which is another popular treatment option. Ask us to see if you are suitable.

Short answer is… it depends.
Most children will have braces once ALL their baby teeth have fallen out, approximately 12-14 years old.
Some younger children will require early orthodontic treatment due to their severity of misalignment. This may include an expansion plate, functional growth plate, thumb sucking prevention etc. This may be done as early as 9 years old or earlier.
We treat every child individually and create a custom orthodontic plan for each patient.
